The firm was founded in October 2010 by Attorney Michael D. Kuznetsky in Los Angeles, California. The firm’s initially focused on entertainment law and commercial litigation involving business disputes and intellectual property matters. Soon after, Mr. Kuznetsky swiftly built a strong practice representing injured employees in Workers’ Compensation. In 2014, Attorney Mark D. Kesten joined the firm, contributing his focus on entertainment law and commercial litigation. With offices operating in Los Angeles and San Diego counties, Kuznetsky Law Group, P.C. represents a wide range of clients throughout Southern California.

One measurement of its expertise is an appellate victory before the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, resulting in a published opinion finding that a magazine’s publication of private, unpublished celebrity photographs was not a fair use under the Copyright Act. (Monge v. Maya Magazines, Inc., 688 F.3d 1164, 9th Cir 2012).
Additionally, Mr. Kuznetsky and Mr. Kesten are published authors, having jointly collaborated on the article “Copied in Stone: Copyright claims involving large, one-of-a-kind sculptural works involve distinct challenges”, published in the May 2016 “Entertainment Law Issue” of Los Angeles Lawyer, a publication of the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA). This article highlights the unique difficulties the firm faced in representing a plaintiff who sued for copyright infringement of his one-of-a-kind sculptural work. The article was drafted after the firm successfully obtained two federal jury verdicts of over a combined $1.2 million against a notorious billionaire real estate developer for the copyright infringement of multiple large-scale works of two sculptors.
Attorneys Kuznetsky and Kesten are members of the State Bar of California and are licensed to practice in all California state courts and the U.S. District Court, Central District of California. Additionally, Mr. Kuznetsky is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
