Mark D. Kesten is Of Counsel to Kuznetsky Law Group, P.C. with a growing practice that includes representing musicians, record producers and mix engineers, talent agencies, record labels, artist managers, Forbes-listed lifestyle brands, and e-commerce businesses. Mr. Kesten handles both transactional and litigation matters for his clients, including the drafting, review, and negotiation of agreements; managing and protecting copyright and trademark portfolios; litigating business and partnership disputes through trial and appeal; and defending businesses against consumer class action lawsuits.

Based in La Jolla, California, Mr. Kesten has been an integral part of the firm since he joined in 2014. Mr. Kesten has a strong interest in legal research and writing and has produced three published articles: Copied in Stone, Copyright Claims Involving Large, One-Of-A-Kind Sculptural Works Involve Distinctive Challenges, co-written with Michael Kuznetsky (Los Angeles Lawyer, May 2016); Collateral Damage: Will The 360 Deal Be the Next Victim of California’s Talent Agencies Act, (Southwestern Law Review, 2014); and Reputation Insurance: Why Negotiating for Moral Reciprocity Should Emerge as A Much Needed Source of Protection for The Employee (Cornell HR Review November 2012).

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kesten worked in the Legal Affairs department of one of top talent agencies in world. He also enjoyed a successful pre-law career as a music artist manager and a commercial radio promoter.

Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, Mark earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia and his Juris Doctorate degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego where he graduated magna cum laude.

He is a member of the California State Bar, the Beverly Hills Bar Association (BHBA) and the San Diego Bar Association (SDBA), and is admitted to practice in all California state courts.
